What is being sensitive?

Almost all artists, visionaries and revolutionaries are sensitive individuals. They inspire us, still, in our daily lives though many are long deceased .
I've been wondering on the subject since many friends of mine resent sensitivity ..they have this ideology that it is depressing, isolating and a burden to a person who is gifted with it.
So what is sensitivity and why is it being resented? Is it a mere state of mind?
Sensitivity in a person is the way their human brain relates to the enviroment around them. Their nervous system isn’t likely to be ‘more’ stimulated than other people , but in their brain it(signal or data)
